ICC Structural Masonry Special Inspector San Diego
What it is: Structural masonry consists of stacked hollow concrete block units which are interlocked together with reinforcing steel and bonded inside with a cement grout fill.
What it does: Structural masonry provides a strong wall which is locked into the foundation by vertically embedded reinforcing steel bars. In addition, as required, horizontal reinforcing steel adds overall strength and keeps the wall as a composite.
What we do: We test mortar, grout, prisms, and structural masonry retaining walls.
Inspect the inner cells of the masonry wall for cleanliness, reinforcing steel installation and steel to wall clearances for grout coverage.
The job of the structural masonry special inspector is to review the approved plans, codes, specifications, observe, test and document during the process of construction.
ICC structural masonry special inspector’s will test as required based on the design engineers statement of special inspections as found on the approved plans.
